Switching from Quarterly to Monthly Returns Under Central Excise Rules: Notify Office When Sales Exceed 4 Crore A user inquired about filing returns under Central Excise Rules, specifically whether they could file returns quarterly for January and February and then switch to monthly returns for March after their sales exceeded 4 crore. They also asked if they needed to notify the excise office about changing from ER-3 to ER-1 returns at the start of the new financial year. A respondent advised that the last quarter return should be filed on a quarterly basis, and monthly ER-1 returns should be filed from the new financial year, with notification to the relevant office. Last quarter return to be filed on quarterly basis; ER - 1 return to be filed on monthly basis from the new financial year onwards, under intimation to the division/range office.
