Income Tax Department's New Fee Clause: Rs. 250 for Adjourned Hearings Beyond Specified Reasons, Limits on Non-Hearings.
The revised schedule of fees for standing counsels of the Income Tax Department, effective from September 13, 1989, introduces a new clause to the existing instructions. This clause specifies that if a case hearing is adjourned for reasons other than those specified, a fee of Rs. 250 will be payable for that day. This fee applies only to one of the connected cases if it is paid for one. Additionally, counsels are entitled to only three non-hearings per case. The clause was previously omitted from instructions issued with the Ministry of Law and Justice's concurrence.
