Income Tax Dept. adjusts pay for senior staff to match juniors post-1986 exam due to revised scales.
Two advance increments are granted to certain staff in the Income Tax Department, such as LDCs, UDCs, Inspectors, and Stenographers, upon passing the departmental examination for the next higher grade. An issue arose where senior officials who passed the exam before January 1, 1986, received lower pay than juniors who passed after this date due to revised pay scales. To address this, the pay of senior officials will be adjusted to match that of their juniors from the date the juniors received the increments. This adjustment is approved by relevant government departments and should be communicated to all regional officers.
