<h1>RBI Approval Needed for Over $5,000 Foreign Exchange for Private Travel Under FEMA 1999, Except Nepal/Bhutan Trips.</h1> Authorised dealers in foreign exchange must obtain prior permission from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to release foreign exchange exceeding USD 5,000 for private travel, excluding visits to Nepal and Bhutan. To expedite processing, a Nodal Officer is designated in each RBI Regional Office, and applications can be submitted via fax or email. Contact information for each Nodal Officer is provided in the annexure. For further assistance, the Chief General Manager of the RBI's Exchange Control Department can be contacted. These instructions are issued under the Foreign Exchange Management Act 1999.
