of <h1>Excise Duty on Demo Cars: Value Them Like Regular Cars, Says Central Board of Excise & Customs.</h1> The Central Board of Excise & Customs has addressed the issue of excise duty on 'Demo Cars' manufactured by passenger car companies. It was noted that these demo cars were being cleared to dealers at a lower value compared to regular sales. After review, the Board concluded that demo cars should be valued the same as any other passenger car for excise duty purposes. Consequently, the excise duty on demo cars should match that of similar regular cars. These instructions are to be communicated to relevant trade and field formations.
