Importers and agents must fully describe imported used cranes (chassis number, year of manufacture, model, capacity) across all import documents; customs will provisionally assess used cranes within the specified Mumbai import jurisdiction to prevent understatement of age or capacity. Provisional conditions require duty payment based on first-check engineer valuation, a bond for the goods' full value, and a bank guarantee of 5% of assessable value; assessments will be finalized on submission of matching RTO registration certificates. Physical inspections must check for tampering; government entities and PSUs are exempt, and individual exemptions may be granted for reliable importers.
