Industrial Timers Classified Under Heading 91.07 for Circuit Control, Not Heading 91.06 or 90.29, Confirms CBEC.
The circular addresses the classification of timers used in industrial applications for changing operation sequences based on time. During the South Zone Central Excise Tariff Conference, it was determined that these timers, which function as time switches, do not fit the description under Heading 91.06 or 90.29 of the Central Excise Tariff (CET). Instead, they are aligned with Heading 91.07, which covers time switches used for circuit control. The Central Board of Excise & Customs has accepted this classification, and relevant parties are to be informed accordingly.
