New measures ease AEO T1/T2 accreditation for MSMEs, reducing document handling, qualifying period, and bank guarantees.
The circular issued by the Central Board of Indirect Taxation & Customs outlines special measures to facilitate Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in obtaining Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) T1 and T2 accreditation. In response to challenges faced by MSMEs during the COVID-19 pandemic, the compliance and security requirements have been relaxed. Key changes include reducing the minimum document handling requirement, shortening the qualifying business activity period, and simplifying the annexures required for accreditation. The processing time for applications has also been reduced, and the requirement for bank guarantees has been further relaxed. These measures aim to streamline the accreditation process for MSMEs while ensuring compliance and security standards are maintained.
