of <h1>Ministry of Finance Launches Pilot for Automated Customs Clearance at Chennai and Jawaharlal Nehru Ports Starting Feb 6, 2020.</h1> The circular from the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, announces the implementation of automated clearance for customs on a pilot basis, as per the first proviso to Section 47(1) of the Customs Act 1962. Automated clearance will initially be tested at Chennai Customs House and Jawaharlal Nehru Customs House starting February 6, 2020. The system will electronically clear Bills of Entry after Customs Compliance Verification and payment of duties. The pilot aims to streamline processes at ICES locations with a fully operational Risk Management System (RMS). Further expansion will depend on the pilot's success.
