New Electronic Procedure for Ex-Bond Bills of Entry u/s 68 of Customs Act 1962 Enhances Efficiency.
The circular outlines the updated procedure for filing ex-bond bills of entry for the clearance of warehoused goods for home consumption, as per Section 68 of the Customs Act, 1962. Importers must now file these bills electronically via the Indian Customs EDI System (ICES), enhancing automation and efficiency. The bond officer will verify the bill through ICEGATE before allowing goods removal. Any discrepancies will be resolved by customs authorities. The changes aim to improve warehouse management, facilitate trade, and ensure timely clearance, with the new procedure effective from June 15, 2016.
