<h1>SEBI Circular Imposes Restrictions on Foreign Investments in Indian Print Media Sector per RBI Notification.</h1> The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) issued a circular on March 12, 2001, addressing stock exchanges about restrictions on foreign investments in the print media sector. Following a notification by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) dated February 16, 2001, amendments were made to the Foreign Exchange Management Regulations, 2000. These amendments prohibit Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) and Foreign Venture Capital Investors from purchasing shares and convertible debentures of Indian companies engaged in print media. Stock exchanges are instructed to inform brokers of these restrictions.
