Central Board Clarifies: Duty-Paid Goods from Different Manufacturers Can Be Stored in Warehouses with Commissioner Approval.
The circular addresses the issue of storing duty-paid goods from another manufacturer in a warehouse. Previously, there was no explicit provision for this scenario. The Central Board of Excise and Customs has clarified that duty-paid goods from another manufacturer can be stored alongside non-duty-paid goods in a warehouse, provided permission is obtained from the Commissioner of Central Excise with jurisdiction over the warehouse. This is subject to conditions set by the Commissioner to protect revenue. Trade and field formations are to be informed, and acknowledgment of receipt is requested. A Hindi version of the circular will be issued.
