SEBI Mandates Rounding Off NAVs: Index and Debt Funds to Four Decimals, Equity and Balanced Funds to Two Decimals.
The circular issued by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) addresses the rounding off of Net Asset Values (NAVs) for mutual funds. It mandates that NAVs for index funds and debt-oriented schemes be rounded to four decimal places, while equity-oriented and balanced fund schemes should be rounded to two decimal places. However, mutual funds may opt to round equity and balanced funds to more than two decimals if desired. These guidelines, based on SEBI Mutual Funds Regulations, must be implemented by all mutual funds by August 31, 2002, for both existing and new schemes.
