Software Tech Parks Must Register for Central Excise and Submit ER-2 Returns to Avoid Non-Compliance.
Export Oriented Units (EOUs) under the Software Technology Park Scheme, along with Electronic Hardware and Bio-Technology Parks, must obtain Central Excise Registration when procuring or removing excisable goods from/to the Domestic Tariff Area (DTA). Additionally, these units are required to file a monthly ER-2 return within 10 days post-month-end, detailing excisable goods manufactured, and inputs or capital goods received. This notice addresses non-compliance by many Software Technology Park units and urges trade associations to inform their members to adhere to these requirements.
