SEBI Clarifies FIIs in Derivatives Not Subject to Investment Limits per SEBI (FII) Regulations, 1995.
The circular from SEBI addresses the applicability of investment limits for Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) in exchange-traded derivative contracts. It clarifies that trading by FIIs and their sub-accounts in derivatives contracts, which do not result in settlement by physical delivery of underlying stocks, will not be subject to the investment limits of 10% or 5% of the total issued capital of a company as specified in SEBI (FII) Regulations, 1995. Custodians of securities are instructed to inform their constituents about this clarification.
