The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) now requires developers to seek preliminary project assessments before approaching the Inter Ministerial Committee (IMC). This aims to address issues of land availability, title, land use, promoter antecedents, and project viability. An online module has been introduced for submitting and processing applications, making preliminary comments from jurisdictional Commissioners mandatory. These guidelines serve as a standing order for customs officers and staff.
