        <h1>Customs Updates State Codes for Bills of Entry and Shipping Bills to Align with GST Census Codes from July 1, 2017.</h1> The Customs authority announced changes to the declaration of State Codes in Bills of Entry and Shipping Bills due to the rollout of GST from July 1, 2017. Previously, State Codes were based on the RBI list, but they will now align with Census Codes used for GST purposes. The updated State Codes are detailed in an annexure, and the NIC RES package has been modified to accommodate this change starting June 14, 2017. Importers, exporters, and custom brokers are advised to use the new codes to avoid declaration issues at ICEGATE. Any difficulties should be reported to the Commissioner of Customs.
