<h1>Customs Circular: Mandatory Standard Unit Quantity Code Declaration in Bills of Entry Effective February 18, 2019.</h1> The circular issued by the Commissioner of Customs mandates the declaration of a Standard Unit Quantity Code (UQC) in Bills of Entry, effective from February 18, 2019. This requirement aims to improve data quality and standardization for valuation and other quantity-based validations in the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) system. Importers, exporters, customs brokers, and trade formations must declare the Standard UQC in addition to the commercial UQC as per the invoice. The declaration is necessary for submission, and failure to comply will prevent the processing of Bills of Entry.
