Mumbai Customs Aligns State Codes with GST Census Codes Starting June 14, 2017; Update NIC RES Package for Compliance.
The circular from the Office of the Principal Commissioner of Customs in Mumbai addresses the alignment of State Codes in the Indian Customs EDI System (ICES) with the upcoming Goods and Services Tax (GST) implementation effective from July 1, 2017. Previously, State Codes in ICES followed the Reserve Bank of India list. These are now being aligned with Census Codes used for GST purposes, and the NIC RES package has been updated accordingly. The changes are effective from June 14, 2017, and stakeholders are advised to use the new codes to prevent declaration issues at ICEGATE. Any difficulties should be reported to the System Manager or ADC (EDI).
