Kandla Customs Abolishes Mate's Receipts for Containerized Cargo, Retains for Bulk Exports per CBEC Circular 56/2016.
The Commissioner of Customs at Kandla has issued Public Notice No. 3/2017, announcing the abolition of the requirement for Mate's receipts for containerized cargo, following CBEC's Circular No. 56/2016-Customs. The Mate's receipt, previously used to confirm cargo loading and provide sailing dates, is now deemed redundant due to automation and message exchange systems. However, for non-containerized export cargo, such as bulk cargo, the issuance of Mate's receipts will continue. Any difficulties arising from this change should be reported to the Principal Commissioner of Customs, Kandla.
