Kandla Customs Office Speeds Up Unloading: Entry Inwards Now Automatic, Saves 4 Hours at Berthing.
The circular issued by the Customs Office at Kandla addresses the reduction of time between a vessel's berthing and the granting of 'Entry Inwards,' which allows for the unloading of goods. To expedite this process, the Entry Inwards procedure is now de-linked from the physical boarding by the Customs Officer. Instead, an automatic message or email system will notify Customs upon the vessel's arrival at the Pilot Station. This change is expected to advance the Entry Inwards by approximately four hours, allowing vessels to begin unloading immediately after berthing. Port authorities and Shipping Agents must inform Customs with relevant details upon a vessel's arrival.
