Customs Simplifies Transhipment at Krishnapatnam Port: New Seal Verification Rules for Import Containers by Private Operator.
The Customs authority has issued a public notice simplifying the transhipment procedure for import containers at Krishnapatnam Port, managed by a private company. The new procedure requires the port company to verify and certify the integrity of container seals and provide digital images of them. Any tampering must be reported immediately. The company must also ensure containers reach their destination with seals intact, and they will be held accountable if seals are found tampered at the destination. This procedure applies only to sea transhipments within India and supersedes previous instructions on seal verification. Concerns should be directed to the Commissioner of Customs in Vijayawada.
