India Announces Alternative for IGST Refund Delays Due to Invoice Mismatches in Exports; Applies to 2017 Shipping Bills.
The Government of India has issued a public notice addressing the issue of Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) refund delays due to invoice mismatches in export cases. Exporters are advised to ensure correct filing of GST returns and shipping bills to avoid discrepancies. An alternative mechanism has been introduced, allowing a Customs officer to verify and sanction refunds in cases where invoice details in GST returns are correct but differ from those in shipping bills. This procedure applies to shipping bills filed until December 31, 2017, with refunds processed electronically through the PFMS system. Exporters must provide a concordance table to the relevant customs authorities.
