of <h1>Customs Amend Handbook: Metallic Scrap Imports Need Pre-Inspection, Except from USA, UK, Canada, Australia, NZ, EU.</h1> The Commissioner of Customs issued a public notice regarding amendments to the Handbook of Procedures 2015-2020, specifically Para 2.54(d)(v)(iv). The amendment requires import consignments of metallic waste and scrap to have a pre-inspection certificate (PSIC) from the country of origin. However, imports from the USA, UK, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and the EU, cleared through specified Indian ports, are exempt from this requirement but must include a supplier certificate stating no radioactive materials or explosives are present. These imports will undergo radiation and explosive checks at the ports, while transshipments through these countries are excluded from the exemption.
