Jawaharlal Nehru Customs House Updates EDI Bill Correction Procedure; Manual Endorsements Discontinued, Electronic Amendments Required.
The procedure for manual corrections in EDI Bills of Entry at Jawaharlal Nehru Customs House (JNCH) has been revised. Previously, importers or Customs Brokers obtained manual endorsements for errors in container numbers from the Import Noting Section without amending the electronic records. With the introduction of e-Sanchit, this practice is discontinued. Now, amendments must be made electronically, with applicable fees paid. If errors are detected before or after obtaining Out of Charge (OOC), specific steps must be followed, including approval and recall processes. Customs Brokers are urged to minimize errors, and the revised procedure is effective from October 5, 2018.
