Indian Ministry of Finance simplifies customs: onboard ship document verification, removes vessel names on shipping bills. Report issues to Customs Commissioner.
The circular from the Indian Ministry of Finance's Department of Revenue announces the simplification of customs procedures regarding ship document verification and related matters. Key changes include: ship documents will now be verified and certified by an Officer on Board to prevent duplication and risk of document loss. The Officer at CEPC will enter sailing reports for vessels at ICTT. The requirement to include vessel names on physical shipping bills is removed following online EGM filing. Requests for emailed Import General Manifests will not be entertained without valid reasons. Any implementation difficulties should be reported to the Commissioner of Customs.
