of <h1>New Customs Investigation Commissioner Role Created by CBIC for Enforcement and Policy on Tax Evasion and Cyber Forensics.</h1> A new post, Commissioner (Investigation-Customs), has been established under the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC). Reporting to the Member (Investigation), this office is responsible for policy matters related to customs enforcement, including search, seizure, arrest, and prosecution under the Customs Act, 1962. It will oversee significant investigations, coordinate with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), and manage intelligence and risk to curb tax evasion. Additional duties involve inter-departmental coordination, handling informant rewards, cyber forensics, and matters related to customs laws, narcotics, and international treaties. All related matters should be forwarded to this office from September 15, 2018.
