of <h1>DGFT Issues New Guidelines for Exporters to Access MEIS Benefits for Project Exports Under Chapter 98.</h1> The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has issued guidelines to address difficulties faced by exporters in availing Merchandise Exports from India Scheme (MEIS) benefits for Project Exports. Exporters have been unable to file shipping bills under Chapter 98, which offers higher incentives, and instead file under specific HS Codes. To resolve this, an 'identification tag' will be created in the online MEIS application module to differentiate Project Exports. Exporters must submit specific documents to DGFT for approval. After verification, necessary changes will be made in the MEIS module to adjust incentive rates, and Duty Credit Scrips will be issued accordingly.
