of <h1>New Rules for Container Movement: Email Details to Customs Before Moving from Port; Penalties for Non-Compliance.</h1> The procedure for container movement permission has been modified, removing the requirement for permission from the Container Cell for moving containers from the port. Steamer agents and importers must now email specific container details to the Assistant Commissioner of Customs, including container number, type, import vessel name, and bond information, before movement. This email must also be sent to the port terminal. A copy of the request must be submitted to the Container Cell by the next working day for reconciliation. Compliance is mandatory, and failure to do so may result in penalties and enforcement of the bond to recover customs duty.
