of <h1>Customs Act Update: New Officer Designation for Waiving Late Charges u/s 46(3) Announced in Mumbai Zone-II.</h1> The circular addresses legislative changes to the Customs Act, 1962, as proposed in the Finance Bill, 2017. It modifies Public Notice No. 66/2017, designating the Additional/Joint Commissioner of the relevant appraising group as the proper officer to consider requests for waiving late charges under Section 46(3) of the Customs Act. Stakeholders, including importers, exporters, and trade members, are advised of this update. Any difficulties should be reported to the Additional Commissioner of Customs, EDI, via email. The circular is issued with the approval of the Chief Commissioner of Customs, Mumbai Zone-II.
