FSSAI Clarifies: No Endorsements Needed for Non-Food Items 'Out of Scope' in Bills of Entry.
Attention is drawn to importers, exporters, and stakeholders regarding the issue of bills of entry being unnecessarily referred to the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) for items deemed 'out of scope.' A decision was made to circulate a list of such items, eliminating the need for importers to obtain 'out of scope' endorsements from FSSAI, even if bills show 'FSSAI pending.' The Out of Charge officer will not require these endorsements, provided other regulatory compliances are met. A list of non-food items with their HS codes has been provided, and these should not be referred to FSSAI for clearance.
