Tax Recovery Procedure Update: Stay of Demand Rate Increased from 15% to 20% During First Appeal Stage.
Instruction No. 1914, dated March 21, 1996, which outlines the procedure for recovery of outstanding tax demands and the granting of stay during the first appeal stage, has been partially modified. The standard rate for stay of demand, previously set at 15% of the disputed amount as per the Office Memorandum dated February 29, 2016, has been increased to 20%. This adjustment reflects the Board's efforts to ensure fairer assessments. All references to the 15% rate now apply to the revised 20% rate. Other guidelines from the 2016 memorandum remain unchanged, and officers must comply with these updates.
