India Amends Handbook to Extend Duty Free Import Authorisations from 2006-2007 by Six Months.
The Government of India has amended the Handbook of Procedures to allow revalidation of Duty Free Import Authorisations (DFIAs) issued between May 1, 2006, and March 31, 2007, for an additional six months. This decision follows representations from trade and industry regarding the inability to utilize DFIAs due to varying interpretations of the scheme's provisions. Requests for revalidation must be submitted to the relevant Regional Authority within 30 days of this notice, and revalidation will not be granted in cases of misrepresentation or fraud. The Department of Revenue has clarified the provisions through a recent Customs circular.
