India Mandates NEFT or Bank Deposit for Miscellaneous Fees; Demand Drafts No Longer Accepted per Ministry Directive.
The Government of India's Ministry of Commerce and Industry, through the Office of the Joint Director General of Foreign Trade, has mandated that all miscellaneous fees, including composition fees and fees for excess utilization of EPCG Authorization, must be paid via NEFT or by depositing cash or a cheque for a Treasury Receipt Challan at an authorized Central Bank of India branch. Demand drafts will no longer be accepted for these payments. This decision was made during meetings held on August 10 and 11, 2017.
