New Circular: Guidelines for Clearing Unscanned Containers Due to Scanner Malfunction or Other Issues.
The circular addresses issues faced by the trade in clearing containers marked for scanning but not scanned. If containers are not scanned due to scanner malfunction or other reasons, they can be cleared after normal customs procedures with a 'Container Not Scanned' stamp. Containers not brought to the scan site must be reported to the Container Scanning Division and can be cleared either by returning to the scanner or through examination by Docks officers. Odd-dimensional containers can bypass scanning and be cleared normally. A No Objection Certificate is only required if scanned images appear suspicious and the container is held.
