Customs Office Updates Sample Testing Procedure: Now One Set of Samples to Any NABL Lab Under FSS Act, 2006.
The Customs Office has issued a public notice regarding the procedure for sample testing under the FSS Act, 2006. Effective March 1, 2017, the current practice of drawing two sets of samples for testing at CRCL labs and NABL accredited labs will be replaced by drawing only one set, which can be sent to any NABL accredited lab chosen by the importer. This change aims to expedite the process, as NABL labs can provide test results within 24 hours, potentially eliminating the need for provisional assessments. The notice advises trade associations and customs brokers to report any difficulties encountered.
