<h1>DGFT Mandates Standard IE Codes for Exempted Importers/Exporters in Updated Exim Policy Effective April 2001.</h1> The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has updated the Exim policy effective from April 1, 2001, requiring certain exempted categories of importers and exporters to use standardized Importer/Exporter Codes (IE Codes) for transactions. Previously, these categories used non-standard codes. The new policy specifies standard IE Codes for 11 exempted categories, such as Central Government departments, which must now use code 0100000029. For those without a standard or individual IE Code, a temporary code 0100000001 is assigned, subject to approval by the designated authority. Changes have been integrated into the ICES software to accommodate these updates.
