of <h1>Mumbai Customs Updates Waste Oil Discharge Rules: License-Free with Duty Payment, Requires Approved Reprocessing Facilities.</h1> The circular from the Office of the Commissioner of Customs in Mumbai informs importers, Custom House Agents, and related parties about changes in the discharge process of waste oil/sludge. Derived from ships' operations and covered by the MARPOL 1973-78 Protocol, such waste can now be discharged without a license upon payment of customs duty. However, discharge permission is restricted to individuals registered with the Ministry of Environment and Forests and possessing reprocessing facilities approved by the State Pollution Control Boards.
