of <h1>Chennai Customs Designates Private Company Premises as 'Customs Area' u/s 8(b) for Cargo Handling.</h1> The Commissioner of Customs in Chennai has designated the premises of a private company as a 'Customs Area' under Section 8(b) of the Customs Act, 1962. This area, located in Ponneri Taluk, Tiruvallur District, covers 10.340 acres and includes various warehouses for import and export activities. The designated area will facilitate the examination and clearance of imported cargo in full container loads and the handling of export cargo under customs supervision. Procedures for handling cargo will follow existing public notices and regulations. This designation is effective from September 28, 2012.
