Indian Customs Introduces New ICES Module for FCL Cargo Transshipment Between Seaports, Effective February 7, 2014.
The circular from the Indian Customs Department announces the implementation of a new module in the Indian Customs EDI System (ICES) for the transshipment of Full Container Load (FCL) cargo between seaports. Effective from February 7, 2014, this module allows transshipment via road, rail, or sea, and includes features such as destination port declaration, transshipment request filing, and permit generation. The procedure for transshipment to Inland Container Depots (ICDs) and Container Freight Stations (CFSs) remains unchanged. The circular provides detailed instructions for stakeholders, including steamer agents and shipping lines, on filing and amending Import General Manifests (IGMs), as well as the requirements for transshipment requests and bond management.
