India Removes Export Obligation for Industrial Licenses on Previously Reserved Small-Scale Items Now Dereserved.
The Government of India has removed the 'export obligation' condition for industrial licenses and Letters of Intent related to items previously reserved for the small-scale sector but now dereserved. Previously, non-small scale sector units required an industrial license with a 50% export obligation for these items. Following dereservation, this obligation is redundant. The Secretariat for Industrial Assistance has declared that industrial licenses and Letters of Intent issued earlier with this condition are now exempt, without needing separate amendments. Entrepreneurs may file an Industrial Entrepreneurs' Memorandum instead of holding an industrial license if certain conditions are met.
