India Revises Export Obligations for EOUs and EPZs: No License Needed for SSI-Reserved Items, Export 66% Production.
The Government of India has revised the export obligations for Export Oriented Units (EOU) and Export Processing Zones (EPZ). Previously, medium or large EOU/EPZ units manufacturing items reserved for the small-scale sector needed an industrial license and had to export at least 50% of their production. Now, these units, even with foreign investment over 24%, do not require a license if they manufacture SSI-reserved items, provided they meet the general obligation to export 66% of their production. However, upon debonding, non-SSI units must export 50% of SSI-reserved items they produce.
