of <h1>Directorate General of Anti-Evasion Renamed to Directorate General of Central Excise Intelligence per Notification No. 54/2000.</h1> The 'Directorate General of Anti-Evasion' has been renamed as the 'Directorate General of Central Excise Intelligence' according to the Central Board of Excise & Customs Notification No. 54/2000-Central Excise (N.T.) dated November 22, 2000. All references to the former name in any official documents under the Central Excise Act, 1944, and related rules should now be interpreted as the latter, unless context dictates otherwise. Relevant trade and field formations are to be informed, and acknowledgment of this circular's receipt is requested. A Hindi version will be provided subsequently.
