<h1>Metallic Waste Import Rules Amended: Only Shredded Scrap Allowed, Exceptions for Major Ports and Specific Documentation Required.</h1> Public Notice No. 15/2004-09, dated October 9, 2004, issued by the Director General of Foreign Trade, amends the Handbook of Procedures under the Foreign Trade Policy, 2004-09, regarding the import of metallic waste and scrap. It stipulates that such imports are allowed only in shredded and compacted form, except through major ports and the Inland Container Depot at Tughalakabad, New Delhi, where unshredded and uncompacted forms are permitted. Imports from countries affected by rebellion or war require specific documentation for customs clearance. All consignments arriving or en route are subject to 100% customs inspection.
