India-Nepal Trade Treaty Update: Import Quota for Vegetable Fats Extended, New Annual Quota Set for 2004-2005.
The Director General of Foreign Trade has amended the procedure for importing certain items under the India-Nepal Treaty of Trade, originally signed on March 2, 2002. The amendment extends the import period for vegetable fats (vanaspati) from Nepal for the year 2003-2004 until December 5, 2004, ensuring the unutilized quota remains valid until that date. For the financial year 2004-2005, an annual quota of 100,000 MTs is set for import from December 6, 2004, to March 5, 2005. The State Trading Corporation and its associates are designated as the importing agencies, responsible for distribution and monitoring in accordance with government policy.
