Amendment to DEPB Scheme: Duty Credit Now Includes Deemed Import Content and Value Addition in Exports, Effective April 2002.
The Director General of Foreign Trade has amended the Handbook of Procedures related to the Duty Entitlement Passbook Scheme (DEPB) under the Export and Import Policy, 2002-07. The amendment specifies that the duty credit under the DEPB scheme will consider the deemed import content of export products, including basic customs duty and special additional duty (SAD) on such imports. The value addition from exports will also be factored into the duty credit rate. Corrections have been made to the table and worksheet for DEPB rate computation, detailing export items, inputs allowed, and associated duties, effective from April 1, 2002.
