DGFT Sets Guidelines for Advance Licenses on Garlic Imports; Allicin Levels Must Match Export Products +/-2.
The Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has announced guidelines for the issuance of advance licenses for importing raw garlic against the export of garlic products under the Duty Exemption Scheme. Regional Licensing Authorities (RLAs) are authorized to issue these licenses under specific conditions: prior import conditions must be met, and the allicin content in imported and exported garlic must match within a +/-2% variation based on their chromatographic profiles. RLAs will process applications and forward them to the ALC in the Head Office for norm finalization, following the procedures outlined in the Export and Import Policy 2002-2007.
