of <h1>EU Entry: Indian Fruits and Vegetables Can Opt for Voluntary Pre-Export Certification to Facilitate Smooth EU Import.</h1> The European Commission requires member countries to check imports of fresh fruits and vegetables at entry points. To ensure smooth entry of Indian exports into the EU, a system of pre-export inspection and certification in India is proposed. The Director General of Foreign Trade mandates that fresh fruits and vegetables exported to the EU may voluntarily undergo inspection and certification by the Directorate of Marketing and Inspection, under the Ministry of Agriculture. This measure aims to prevent denial of entry to Indian exports upon arrival in the EU. Copies of the notice are distributed to relevant agricultural and trade bodies.
