of <h1>India Lifts Import Restrictions on CKD/SKD Kits for Joint Venture Car Manufacturers; Export Obligations Apply Until March 31, 2001.</h1> The policy addresses the import of Completely Knocked Down (CKD) and Semi Knocked Down (SKD) kits/components by Joint Venture Car Manufacturer companies under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Government of India. Following the removal of Quantitative Restrictions on such imports from April 1, 2001, the previous Public Notice No. 60 from December 12, 1997, is withdrawn. However, companies must fulfill export obligations for imports made up to March 31, 2001, within the designated timeframe unless an extension is granted by the government. This change is made in the public interest.
