NHAI's Member (Finance) Now Authorized to Issue Customs Duty Exemption Certificates for Internationally Funded Projects.
The Central Board of Excise and Customs has delegated the power to issue Customs Duty Exemption Certificates (CDEC) for projects financed by international organizations, such as the World Bank and Asian Development Bank, from the Chairman of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to the Member (Finance) of NHAI. This decision aims to streamline the process, as NHAI requires over 700 certificates annually for projects approved by the government. The exemption, under Notification No. 84/97-Customs, will now be extended based on CDECs issued by the Member (Finance), NHAI.
